Calola Street, Heidelberg West, Victoria
Client: Wen-Wheeler Developments Pty Ltd
Located only 25 minutes from Melbourne CBD, these four architecturally designed townhouses are the first of their kind within the Heidelberg West area. Delivering a contemporary lifestyle to residents, the Calola Residences are designed to sit comfortably within their surrounding environment .
Each townhouse provides residents with park-side appeal, and internal planning focuses the occupant on the adjacent context as well as connecting them to the surrounding private outdoor spaces.
ML Design collaborated closely with the project team to create individualised and modern facades for each townhouse. The material pallete is muted and natural, responding to the parkside location
In order to deliver these four truly individual townhouses, the ML Design team delivered distinct facade variations to articulate each streetscape. The developments siting on a street corner meant that both street façades were visible, and had to be equally considered in their visual appeal and address to their respective street. Tight site dimensions also dictated an efficiency of planning design which has created free-flowing open plan living which direct access to adjacent outdoor spaces. Upstairs bedrooms are functional and make use of the views to adjacent parkland and rear gardens depending on orientation.
The design solution provided by ML Design satisfies the private open space requirements while maximising the site’s yield. The final designs created individualised and contemporary townhouses that are innovatively designed to truly complement and embrace the development context .
