Evergreen (Ivy & Eve towers)

South Brisbane

Client: TMDL & Abacus Group

Year: 2014

Made up of two 30-storey residential towers, the aptly named Ivy and Eve towers are set to revitalise the heart of South Brisbane. With a focus on a harmonious relationship between the buildings and their lush surrounds, Evergreen is set to become one of Brisbane’s centrepiece developments.

Proposing a total of 486 apartments, Evergreen is designed to be more than just a place to live. With a recreation deck inspired by the quintessential Queensland lifestyle, the bold design boasts an outdoor cinema, I.T pods, gym and yoga rooms, Japanese dining pods, pizza ovens and an impressive glass-edge pool overlooking the street.

It was ML Design’s strategic and multidisciplinary approach that saw us appointed to this cornerstone design project. Our knowledge allowed us to successfully collaborate with the developer to bring their ideas to life.

The major design consideration was unifying the structures with their luscious green surroundings. Our design brief was centred around making each individual apartment reflective of a ‘Brisbane building’: open, spacious and optimising green and shared space.

We were also faced with the challenge of disguising 5 levels of above ground carparking and activating a previously idle street in order to create a lavish oasis for residents to enjoy.

ML Design captured the essence of Brisbane in our apartment design by grasping the Queensland ‘inside-outside’ lifestyle. We seamlessly integrated gardens and numerous landscaping elements into the building façade to increase the street appeal. The apartments include unique galley-style layouts with corner balconies that broaden the living space while allowing for cross-ventilation on those warm sub-tropical days.

The outcome: a remarkable development that redefines the relationship between building and surrounds.
