Located a stone’s throw from Melbourne CBD, these two and three-bedroom townhouses are in the perfect location for residents to enjoy the contemporary lifestyle on offer in the heart of Melbourne. Each townhouse features three levels: a garage, study and two levels of living and bedroom area.

Although the site is compact, each townhouse enjoys a dual aspect with western and eastern outlook – providing natural cross ventilation and capturing natural light. Internally, the floorplans work to maximise space in a small area and the use of glass and natural light help the townhouses feel spacious and airy.

ML Design’s collaborative approach and ability to deliver innovative design solutions despite the design challenges and considerations was what saw us appointed to the design team. We collaborated closely with the client to ensure that our designs captured the vision for the site, and that the project outcomes were met.

Given the location of the site and its proximity to Melbourne CBD, the ML Design team were working with an extremely tight site that had neighbours on all sides. This meant the strategic design solutions focused on minimising disruption within the area, while still creating a sought-after and contemporary place to live.

In a move to minimise on-site disruption, the ML Design studio delivered an innovative modular design that helped fast-track the building process while still creating a carefully designed end-product. The strategic design allows for free flowing spaces and a central circulation core that services all levels – keeping the townhouses comfortable in all seasons.

To capture the beautiful natural light and to add space to the internal areas, the designs utilise a large balcony and full wall of openable glazed sliding doors. This resulted in a highly aesthetic and functional design, that didn’t impact on the surrounding area and provides residents with a unique living space.
